We invite those, who are looking for new areas, not "discovered" yet for mass tourist industry. Trends come and go; recently, off-road travelers have started penetrating Transcaucasia. These are not wild and remote lands, but from the point of view of Western Europe, they are hardly known and rarely visited. We invite those who can afford three-week-holiday to reach the unknown areas just across the Asian border. It is possible to participate in the expedition if you do not have your own car. We arrange transport in 4x4 bus with 6 seats for passengers. Necessary equipment includes: tent, sleeping bag, camping cooking gear. Maximum luggage volume - a 60 litres backpack. The cost is 500EUR + cost of renting the bus (to be agreed Ask for more information. 22 - 31 od May

come and join us for an off-the-beaten track adventure in Transcaucasia

we want to invite you for a trip to Transcaucasia, during this trip we are going to visit Georgia, the land of friendly and uncommon people, and Armenia - an enclave of the West in the Eastern culture

visiting these two completely different countries will be an opportunity to observe in a short time cultures which apparently have nothing in common, forever in dispute, but always interdependent, they are like a melting pot, where western civilization is quickly absorbed, it is more and more difficult to find niches with genuine local culture

We have travelled the route and prepared the track. The participants will receive "critical" waypoints to be loaded for GPS units (Garmin), so that you may feel free to travel at your own speed, without fearing that you might get lost. The meeting place and the beginning of the route is in Turkey, just before the border with Georgia. You need to get to the meeting point from home on your own. The end of the route is going to be in the same place. The travel time to / and from / the meeting point from Poland is 3-4 days (ca. 3200 km). This expedition is addressed all off-road travellers; you do not need to be particularly experienced or have extreme equipment. It is a good trip to start your personal experience with far-away travels. It is possible to take whole families with you, but make sure your travel partners are able to stand long hours of driving - just to make sure you are going to have only fond memories from your holiday. Please, keep in mind, that a traveller (contrary to a tourist) is aware that a successful expedition may require effort, as well as sacrifice.
The route is mostly a traveller's expedition, only a little - an off-road experience. We are not focusing on finding difficult, forgotten tracks, but we want to visit the major attractions of the region. But we are not going to "play the Japanese tourist" and visit all the places of interest listed in tourist guides. But for sure, we are going to visit all major sites of the area so that after coming back you are bale to summarize the trip saying "we have seen and we know almost everything about Transcaucasia".
Everyday we will stop in "civilized" places, so it will be possible to replenish food, water and fuel resources; sometimes also have an internet access. However, be prepared for shortages of processed Western-style food or lack of order and tidiness as we know it from home. We are going to experience frequent military and police controls at road check points. Long waiting hours on the border are also probable.
We, as your guides, will do our best to make sure that you learn about the subtle beauty of this different world, existing according to principles and traditions alien to us. Maybe you are not going to relax so well as you would on the Croatian beach, but instead you will achieve something extraordinary, something that may change your way of looking at both faraway lands, and your own familiar culture and civilization.
Required preparations: First of all, you need a good 4x4 car with a transfer gear. We are not expecting any difficult off-road driving, but we have to be prepared for any conditions, especially on non-maintained mountain roads. Your car does not need a winch or huge wheels. Basic equipment includes: AT tyres and a kinetic rope; additional required equipment includes CB radio and GPS unit.
Your proper camping preparation is much more important. Each participant has to be self-sufficient with respect to accommodation (a tent, inside a car, etc.) and cooking. We can expect low temperatures in the mountains. We are going to spend most of the nights "in the wild", so we have to be self-dependant. We can give you more precise recommendations concerning camping gear.

The participation fee to 1100EUR (500EUR motorbike); irrespective of number of persons in the car; the minimum number of participant is 3 cars, maximum - 8 cars. Please, enrol by 1st April 2011.
