Organisation we will expect special commitment from all participants. The travel distances per day are longer than on popular holiday trips. The group will start the day early, and each night we are going to stop in a new location. Those who have GPS units (więcej - info about recommended GPS systems) are encouraged to try independent travelling according to the prepared route (we recommend it for 8 out of 12 days of the trip). The advantages of independent travelling include: your own pace of travelling, starting the day at the time you like, stopping and visiting places on the way as you wish - all according to your individual preferences. Moreover, this way you will be able to avoid the dust raised by proceeding cars on dirt roads. Then you can also feel more self-sufficient, like a true traveller. But of course you can travel with the whole group led by us as guides. A group usually travels slowly. Most days will mean many hours of driving, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with short breaks. The starting/meeting point is on the Latvian and Russian border. We will help you during the border crossing to cope with the paperwork and language barriers. The end of the expedition is also on the Latvian and Russian border. The distance from Suvalki (PL) to the meeting point is ca. 500 km.
It is possible to participate in the expedition if you do not have your own car. We arrange transport in 4x4 bus with 6 seats for passengers. It is possible to join us for the trip for 10 days, from Moscow to Novgorod. Necessary equipment includes: tent, sleeping bag, camping cooking gear. Maximum luggage volume - a 60 litres backpack. The cost is 450EUR + cost of renting the bus (to be agreed).
The route crosses the northern part of European Russia; on the way we are going to visit Moscow, Jaroslav, Syktyvkar (capital town of the Respublika Komi), Arkhangielsk (Archangel), Petrozavodsk, Stara Ladoga and Novgorod. However, we are going to spend most of time in the genuine Russian countryside, and all nights "in the wild", mostly by forest lakes or rivers. Of course, it demands proper camping gear (details shall be e-mailed individually). Long sections of the route will lead along damaged potholed roads, so we will drive relatively slowly and carefully, trying to save our suspensions. The nature-related attractions of this expedition make it an ideal challenge for nature lovers and those who enjoy wildlife. They will not get discouraged when faced with loads of mosquitoes, uncomfortable nights in the middle of nowhere or changing weather.
The participation fee is EUR 1050 (+22% VAT) per car, irrespective of the number of passengers. The minimum number of participants - 3 cars; maximum - 8 cars. Please, sign up not later than by 1st July 2011. More information available at: info@kilometr.com or +48603668119.

Off-road is going to be in 95% along dirt roads and potholed asphalt. It is NOT a trip for the extreme driving lovers, who crave for a mixture of mud and adrenaline. However, we are going to encounter bridgeless rivers so fording streams is going to be our experience. We are going to travel along muddy forest tracks, sandy paths and "wash-board" roads killing our suspensions. We expect from the participants of this expedition that their vehicles should be equipped with "mud-type" (MT) tyres. Any 4x4 vehicle with a transfer gear can make it, but proper tyres are a must. Additional recommendations include a chassis cover, a winch, a hi-lift, a spade, a kinetic rope and a GPS unit (details shall be e-mailed individually).
